Hubballi: North Karnataka is in for a scorching few days as a dry and hot spell is expected to grip the region over the next 3-5 days, according to Dr. R.H. Patil, Nodal Officer for GKMS Unit at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) in Dharwad.

Citing the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Dr. Patil warns of a significant rise in temperatures. The forecast predicts highs reaching a scorching 41-42 degrees Celsius between April 23 and 26, particularly in the Kalyana Karnataka region.

While the coastal areas of Karnataka will experience some relief, escaping with hot and humid conditions, the temperatures there are still expected to be uncomfortable, reaching around 38-39 degrees Celsius.

The biggest concern is the lack of rain in the forecast. With a very low chance of precipitation across most of North Karnataka for the next five days, farmers in the region are being advised to take necessary precautions to protect their crops from the heatwave’s damaging effects.
